Pallav Chander

Pallav Chander creates his image through a process of ordering chaos. This is achieved by building up the surface of the canvas through repetitive, grid like formations of little squares that sit tightly on one another, resembling a brick wall. Figures of men, women and even giant ogres emerge from the patterns created by the bricks, while their disappearance back into the surface patterning is made possible by Pallav’s use of monochromatic colouring. Constructed with meticulous concentration, Pallav adds a sense of tactility to his canvases, texturing the entire surface with tiny droplets of paint that dry to give the work an interesting glisten and feel.
