During his time in Bhopal from the 1980’s Reghu made regular visits to the tribal areas of Bastar and Wynad. Here he was captivated by the rural lifestyle and art of the people. Reghu repeatedly tried to recreate and explore these through his ceramic art. The ideal, simple relationships between people and nature, the eternal quest for happiness and the non-materiality of life were to become recurring themes in his work. A fascination for yoga and the asanas became a secondary theme as his involvement with man’s search for a higher meaning in life took over. Reghu settled in Bhopal for over 15 years and created his first studio residence called ‘Mati Ghar’.
