Kanchan Chander (b. 1957) completed her BFA (Painting and Printmaking) from the College of Art, Delhi. She went on to undertake additional training in print making from College of Art Santiago, Chile, and received a fellowship from the College of Art, Delhi. Kanchan has had several solo shows in India and abroad, including at the The Sandalwood Room, Singapore (2014), Galerie Gondwana, Germany (2012), Art Positive, New Delhi (2011) and Apparao Galleries, New Delhi (2009). She has been part of group shows at Art Heritage (2019), NGMA (2018), Brandeis University (2007), Bamoung many others. Kanchan was awarded the BC Sanyal Award, Collage of Arts, New Delhi,Yuva Mahotsava Award, as well as the Sahitya Kala Parishad Award. In 2016, her works were presented at the University of Connecticut, School of Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and Mills College in the USA. Kanchan’s work has been acquired by the NGMA, New Delhi, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, and The British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum in the UK. Her works have also been showcase in several books, most recently, ‘Shringhar – The Many Faces of Indian Beauty’ by Dr. Alka Pande.
