In the Shadow of the Pyramids: Photographs by Laura El-Tantawy
August 25 – September 20, 2017
Art Heritage presents In the Shadow of the Pyramids, an immersive exhibition by Egyptian photographer Laura El-Tantawy, documenting her deeply personal nine-year journey through the events of the January 25 Revolution in Cairo’s Tahrir Square. The exhibition combines large video screens, framed photographs, and audio tracks, offering a powerful visual and emotional experience. Tantawy’s photographs, paired with her poems written between 2005 and 2013, capture the euphoria of Tahrir Square during the revolution’s early days and the subsequent despair as hopes for freedom were crushed.
The exhibition is curated by Rahaab Allana, Curator, The Alkazi Foundation for the Arts
