Neverland Post Office: Rajesh Deb
March 20 – April 16, 2022
Rajesh Deb’s latest series, Neverland Post Office, invites viewers to reflect on the dramatic shifts in priorities and perspectives brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. In this body of work—comprising paintings, woodcuts, ink drawings, and artist books – Deb revisits the forced “pause” of a global lockdown and the fleeting opportunity for self-reflection they provided. Building on themes from his acclaimed solo exhibition in 2017 at Art Heritage, Testimony of Tolerance, which explored identity through historical figures, he now steps into the realm of fantasy to examine reinvention, separation, and belonging. Drawing inspiration from J.M. Barrie’s Neverland and Agha Shahid Ali’s The Country Without a Post Office, he presents a timeless, identity-less world—one devoid of a post office, symbolizing obliterated existence and connection.
