Stillness in Motion: Kavita Jaiswal

November 22 – January 9, 2025

Kavita Jaiswal’s solo, Stillness in Motion, is a captivating chronicle of her four-decade artistic odyssey into the realms of abstraction and spirituality. Trained under Rameshwar Broota, she transitioned from oils to mediums like delicate Washi paper and bold pen-and-ink techniques, reflecting her quest to uncover the unseen. Her practice, shaped by a transformative encounter with the Dalai Lama, blends personal introspection with universal themes such as rebirth, resilience, and cosmic energy. Jaiswal’s work captures both the chaos of global distress and the tranquility of spiritual awakening, symbolized by motifs like the Phoenix and the Simurgh. Works in the current exhibition redefine abstraction with striking monochromatic tones and fluid lines that evoke cosmic rhythms and human emotions. Themes of grief, renewal, and interconnectedness unfold across her canvases, including tributes to the 9/11 Memorial and meditative reflections on existence. Each stroke serves as a gateway to profound dialogues about the self and the universe. With a masterful interplay of emotion, philosophy, and visual storytelling, Stillness in Motion immerses viewers in an extraordinary journey that bridges the tangible and the transcendent.
